Many development teams treat quality assurance as the final step — build everything, then test it before the deadline. This approach consistently fails because bugs found late are expensive to fix, it creates a frantic testing period that erodes both team morale and product quality, developers have mentally moved on by the time QA surfaces issues, and integration problems appear too late to address properly. At PROGREX, quality is not a phase or a department — it is integrated into every phase of development, from the first discovery conversation through post-launch monitoring, because the cost of catching a defect rises sharply at every stage it goes undetected.

Quality begins before a single line of code is written. During discovery, our team performs a completeness check to identify gaps, ambiguities, and edge cases in requirements, then defines measurable acceptance criteria for every feature so "done" is objectively verifiable rather than a matter of opinion. Engineers review requirements for technical feasibility and flag risks early, and wireframe designs are validated against requirements before development begins. The principle is simple: catching a requirements error during discovery costs minutes, catching it in testing costs hours, and catching it after launch costs days — and sometimes client trust that is hard to rebuild.

During development, code reviews on every pull request ensure that at least one other developer examines every change for logic correctness, edge cases, security implications, performance concerns, readability, and consistency with established patterns before any code reaches the main branch. TypeScript's type system catches entire categories of runtime errors at compile time — property access on undefined values, incorrect function arguments, type mismatches between components — eliminating whole classes of bugs that would otherwise slip into production. ESLint and Prettier run automatically on every save and commit, enforcing consistent code style across the codebase and flagging common error patterns without consuming code review time on formatting debates. These three layers — code review, type checking, and automated linting — work in concert to raise the baseline quality of every line of code we ship before any formal testing begins.

Automated testing adds a further layer of protection that runs continuously throughout development. Unit tests cover business logic, validation rules, and critical utility functions; integration tests verify API endpoints with database operations, multi-step user flows, and third-party integration points; and end-to-end tests simulate complete user journeys through the browser for critical paths like user registration, login, and checkout. Every pull request must pass all tests through GitHub Actions before any code merges into the main branch — no exceptions. Manual QA runs in parallel to catch what automation misses: usability issues, visual problems, and unexpected user paths that are difficult to script. Every project is tested across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on desktop, as well as mobile browsers at multiple screen sizes, and exploratory testing — using the application as a real user would, deliberately attempting to break things — consistently surfaces defects that scripted test cases miss.

Before launch, every project undergoes a Lighthouse audit targeting a performance score of 90 or above, alongside load testing to verify the application handles expected traffic, JavaScript bundle analysis, and verification that all images are properly sized and compressed. Client acceptance testing is the final quality gate: we deploy to a staging environment identical to production, walk the client through every feature, allow the client team to test against their real workflows, record all feedback, resolve all issues, and only proceed to production after written client approval. After launch, quality monitoring continues through real-time error alerting, Core Web Vitals performance tracking, a bug fix warranty covering defects discovered post-launch at no additional charge, and scheduled monthly health checks covering performance, errors, and security.
